Lotus unveils Emeya electric hyper-GT
Lotus has revealed the company’s first four-door hyper-grand tourer (GT), the electric Emeya, in New York City on World EV Day (September 9).
Production is due to start next year, the Emeya a flagship model in Lotus’s line-up of luxury performance EVs.
It’s expected in New Zealand, while the brand’s first EV the Lotus Eletre is included in Giltrap Group’s Starship Supercar Show on September 16 and 17 at 119 Great North Road in Grey Lynn, Auckland, and also reportedly on public display on September 23 at Lotus Auckland, 174 Great North Road, Grey Lynn.
“Bringing together our rich heritage with intelligent performance and the latest cutting-edge technologies, we’re pushing the boundaries for how a luxury electric vehicle should look and handle– making it truly for the drivers,” says Lotus Group chief executive Feng Qingfeng.
Emeya has an electronically controlled air suspension system. Its advanced onboard sensors feel the road 1000 times a second and automatically adjust the vehicle to ensure the smoothest ride.
The top specification model features Lotus’ high-power dual motor delivering a 250km/h top speed and 0-100km/h acceleration in under 2.8 seconds.
A 350kW DC fast charger can add 150km range in about five minutes, as well as boosting range to 80% within 18 minutes.
Sustainable materials include a new luxury thread made from repurposed fibres from the fashion industry – as well as PVD aluminium, Alcantara, Nappa leather, and Ultrafabrics PU.
Emeya’s sound system features KEF’s Uni-Q speaker design and Uni-Core space-saving subwoofer enclosure, as well as Dolby Atmos-enabled 3D surround sound.

This is a Lotus like you have never seen before,” says Lotus Group design vice-president Ben Payne.
Further information on Emeya will be released in Q4, with details on market availability and pricing to be announced at a future date.
