Mahindra unveils Vision 2027 with new SUV concepts
Mahindra & Mahindra has revealed its Vision 2027 strategy, underpinned by the introduction of its new modular, multi-energy NU_IQ platform, which will form the basis of a new generation of SUVs from 2027.
At an event in Mumbai on August 15, the company showcased four new design concepts – Vision.S, Vision.T, Vision.SXT and Vision.X – previewing its future line-up.
The NU_IQ platform has been engineered to support multiple body styles and powertrains, including front- and all-wheel drive, left- and right-hand drive. It features a flat-floor architecture, lightweight design, and advanced safety systems.
The platform will also support Mahindra’s latest digital interface, NU_UX, described as an “intuitive next-generation integrated domain architecture.”
The new SUV concepts are the next evolution of Mahindra’s HEARTCORE design philosophy. Developed at the company’s studios in Mumbai and Banbury, UK, the design language is based on a theme of “opposites attract,” combining traditional SUV presence with modern, expressive styling.
Pratap Bose, chief design and creative officer at Mahindra, said the concepts represent “the start of a new chapter” for the brand, aiming to create an emotional bond between driver and vehicle.
The four concepts will enter production from 2027, with Mahindra aiming to expand its premium SUV offering in India and global markets, including left-hand drive regions.
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, chief executive of Mahindra’s automotive division, said the strategy “ushers in a new no-compromise era of mobility and gives freedom a new meaning.”

Model identities
• Vision.T and Vision.SXT – described as “born iconic” designs
• Vision.S – emphasises sporty solidity
• Vision.X – focuses on sculptural athleticism
The new range, Mahindra says, has been engineered to “resolve paradoxes” in SUV design by combining spacious interiors, commanding driving dynamics, and advanced technology.
