Mazda has confirmed it will launch the all-new CX-6e electric SUV in New Zealand, marking a further step in the brand’s transition toward electrification.

The CX-6e was unveiled earlier this month at the Brussels Motor Show and is expected to arrive in New Zealand toward the end of 2026.

Mazda says the CX-6e is built on a dedicated electric platform and features an extended 2902mm wheelbase with short overhangs. Luggage capacity is rated at 468 litres with all seats in place.

The model adopts an updated interpretation of Mazda’s Kodo design language, with a low, streamlined profile concealing a spacious cabin layout. The interior is designed around the Japanese concept of Ma, which emphasises the use of space, with generous head, leg and shoulder room for occupants.

Power comes from a rear-mounted electric motor producing 190kW and 290Nm of torque, supplied by a 78kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. Mazda says the CX-6e has a driving range of up to 484km.

The CX-6e also introduces a new digital cockpit layout, centred around a 26-inch touchscreen with a dual-split display configuration. The system is supported by a head-up display that projects navigation and key driving information into the driver’s line of sight.

Mazda says the CX-6e has been developed through global collaboration and is intended to deliver the brand’s Jinba Ittai driving philosophy in an electric format.

Further details, including New Zealand specifications, equipment levels and pricing, will be confirmed closer to the local launch.
