MG takes lowest-price EV crown
MG Motor has realigned the pricing of their electric and hybrid vehicle range, reclaiming the title of having the cheapest new electric car in the market.
Effective from August 1, 2024, MG’s new pricing strategy offers substantial savings for customers. The MG ZS EV Excite, previously priced at $50,990, now starts at just $40,990.
The MG4 and MGHS plug-in hybrid also see cuts.
Key Price Reductions:
- MG ZS EV Excite: Reduced from $50,990 to $40,990
- MG ZS EV Essence: Reduced from $53,990 to $45,990
- MG ZS EV Long Range: Reduced from $59,990 to $55,990
- MG HS PHEV Excite: Reduced from $50,990 to $44,990
- MG HS PHEV Essence: Reduced from $55,990 to $49,990
- MG 4 – Excite 51: Reduced from $46,990 to $42,990
- MG 4 – Excite 64: Reduced from $51,990 to $49,990
- MG 4 – Essence 64: Reduced from $54,990 to $52,990
- MG 4 – X-Power AWD: Reduced from $69,990 to $64,990
- MG 4 – Essence 77: Reduced from $63,990 to $59,990
MG Motor New Zealand’s Chief Operating Officer, Harrie Yan, emphasizes the brand’s dedication to delivering value and peace of mind.

In conjunction with these price cuts, MG is introducing New Zealand’s most comprehensive new car warranty. Every new MG vehicle purchased from an authorized dealer will now come with a 10-year/250,000km warranty – including on the battery. Commercial users get a 7-year/160,000km cover.
