Mitch Evans Rome 2019

“Thank you @JaguarRacing thank you Rome. This one feels beautiful 🏆,”Kiwi Formula E racing driver Mitch Evans tweeted after winning the Rome event on April 14.

His first win for Panasonic Jaguar Racing wiped bad memories of last year’s Rome race when ran out of juice while leading.

This time he hit the finish line with only 2% of battery power left, holding off pole starter Andre Lotterer of Germany and giving his team its first win this season.

Evans is now fourth on the leader board behind third-placed Lotterer.

The Rome event was temporarily stopped after a multi-car pile-up early in the race, Lotterer leading the restart.

But Evans gunned him down using ‘attack mode’ to gain an extra power boost.

Evans debuted in the ABB FIA Formula E in 2016 and his brother Simon races in the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy support event, taking third in Rome for Team Asia New Zealand.

Meanwhile, some overseas media are speculating that champion Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton may move to Formula E in 2020. He won his sixth China GP on April 14.
