New hybrid car sharing service launches with impressive support

Electric-hybrid car sharing service Mevo is partnering with several high profile organisations as part of its New Zealand launch.

Audi, Meridian, Trade Me Insurance and Wellington City Council are all supporting Wellington-based Mevo during its entry into the market.

Mevo founder and chief executive Erik Zydervelt says the company is thrilled it can offer customers the chance to drive one of three Audi A3 Sportback e-trons.

A smartphone app allows customers the chance to find a Mevo vehicle in their area and they only pay for what they use.

Audi NZ general manager Dean Sheed says the partnership allows the company to be “at the forefront of electric mobility services in New Zealand”.

Neal Barclay, general manager retail for Meridian, says the partnership helps demonstrate the benefits of going electric.

“With over 80% of the electricity generated in New Zealand coming from wind and water, encouraging the use of these types of vehicles can only help reduce emissions as the electric-hybrid and electric car market grows.”

The service is currently available in three locations within Wellington city, with plans to expand further to Auckland.
