Nissan updates Ariya with cleaner look and new tech

image

Nissan has unveiled a refreshed Ariya electric SUV, adopting a cleaner front end and updated technology before its expected New Zealand arrival in 2026.

It’s the model’s first major update since the 2022 debut. The gloss-black nose panel is gone, replaced by a smoother fascia with a back-lit Nissan badge.

New curved daytime running lights with a three-stripe signature replace the angular units, and the side intakes have been deleted for a sleeker, more aerodynamic face. The look brings Ariya closer to the next-generation Leaf crossover due overseas next year. Nissan hasn’t shown the rear, though mild tail-light changes are expected.

Inside, the big change is a Google-based infotainment system—as seen in the latest Qashqai and Leaf—bringing improved navigation, voice control and connected services.

The Ariya also adds vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability so owners can power external devices from the battery. Japan-market cars get revised suspension tuning aimed at better ride comfort; similar tweaks could reach export models.

Nissan has not confirmed performance or range figures; efficiency updates may deliver modest gains over today’s 400–530km range, depending on battery size.

The updated Ariya launches in Japan later this fiscal year, with global markets, including New Zealand, expected to follow in 2026.
