Nissan’s little Leaf EV get drift tested
Nissan has been one of the kings of the drift world for eons – rear drive, turbocharged cars that can be hit, repeatedly, with a big stick.
Then fixed up with some gaffa and hit again.
But there’s one Nissan you’d never really contemplate giving that treatment to – it’s the little EV, the zero-emission Leaf is perfectly reasonable omission from the Nismo-powered drift roster.
You can guess why. But in Wales, they get bored – if you watch the video embedded below you’ll see the sheer joy on the faces of the spectators enjoying beautiful Welsh weather.
Autocar’s Matt Prior – to his credit – has the fortitude to get out and give it a go. The electric front-driver isn’t quite a perfect drift platform, but he manages to get it sliding – and as there’s a foot-actuated e-brake, it’s all in the steering.
Not much smoke though, we can’t see him taking on our own Mad Mike anytime soon.
