Otira Gorge EV fast charger launches give-a-little fundraising campaign

The Kiwi couple operating the EV fast charging station located by the Fulton Hogan depot in the Otira Gorge, have launched a give a little page to help defray the fixed costs of the venture.

The destination charger is located in the middle of a national park and also provides toilet facilities for EV drivers and their passengers.

According to a post on the EV Fast Charger Otira Gorge Facebook page, a combination of rates, insurance, daily electricity charges, ChargeNet fees, and Westpower capacity fees means the site runs at a loss, and this is before any rent is paid.

The sites operators say they are happy just to break even and would like to add more facilities to the site in future.

More than $200 has been donated as of June 23 at 9.32am.
