Polestar 3 gets faster charging, more power and tech overhaul
Polestar has given its flagship SUV a major hardware refresh, switching the Polestar 3 to an 800V electrical architecture, boosting DC charging to 350kW and adding a 500kW Performance variant.
It is effectively “an entirely new car,” according to Polestar chief executive Michael Lohscheller.
The update cuts 10–80% charge time to 22 minutes (about 25% quicker) and improves efficiency by up to 6% on WLTP tests.
New CATL battery packs are fitted — 92kWh for the Rear motor model and 106kWh for Dual motor/Performance — extending long-distance capability.
A new permanent-magnet rear motor and an updated front unit that can decouple for efficiency lift output and sharpen dynamics, with the Performance quoted at 0–100km/h in 3.9s and a greater rear-drive bias. Anti-roll bars and steering software are revised.
Onboard computing power jumps from 30 to 254 TOPS, speeding up active-safety, battery and sensor processing. Polestar says the hardware upgrade will be offered free as a retrofit to existing Polestar 3 owners from early next year.
The line-up is simplified to Rear motor, Dual motor and Performance, with new option bundles including a Climate pack (heated rear seats, wheel and wipers) and a Prime pack (Pilot, Plus and Climate with privacy glass).
Standard trim moves to Bio-attributed MicroTech in Charcoal and a Storm dark-grey paint joins the palette.
