Polestar Energy launched in 11 markets
Polestar continues to roll out its energy initiative, which is now live in 11 markets, with more planned in the second half of this year.
Offering customers more efficient and cheaper home charging, Polestar Energy complements Polestar Charge, which has over 875,000 charging points in Europe, including Tesla Superchargers, for charging away from home.
Customers can access over 17,800 Tesla Superchargers in North America with a NACS adaptor.
After a successful pilot scheme in the UK and the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland have been added to the complete Polestar Energy offer. At the same time, customers in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Italy, and Spain can take advantage of smart charging and solar.
“It’s important that we offer our customers compelling charging offers to make using their cars easier and more cost-effective. A 30% saving on charging costs at home can make a big difference, so we’re rolling this offer out at scale, with more markets to come later this year. Adding vehicle-to-grid capabilities in Polestar’s line-up will add even more value to our customers,” Polestar chief executive Michael Lohscheller says.
Thanks to the Polestar Energy app, customers decide when to use their car and their desired charging level. Smart charging takes care of the rest—charging your car when it makes sense for the grid. By balancing demand and charging when demand is lower, customers receive cheaper energy costs, either at the source as a grid reward or when receiving their electricity bill.
In some markets, charging costs can be reduced by as much as 30%, with up to EUR 300 in annual savings possible thanks to additional grid rewards. The net result is a significant reduction in Polestar customers’ total ownership cost.
There is also a reduction in CO2 emissions during the car’s usage phase, as the renewable energy mix is often higher at times of lower grid demand. Charging your EV using the Polestar Energy app is kinder to the environment.
Later in 2025, bidirectional charging with vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-home capabilities, first targeted at Polestar 3, will allow customers to use their vehicles as energy storage, send back excess energy to the grid, or even power their homes.
Customers who want to take advantage of this offer need a compatible home charger. Through an exclusive offer that includes installation, they can choose the Zapotec wall box with charging capability directly from Polestar.
