Private EV charger rental site kicks off in UK

Chargie – the website that allows people to rent an EV charger at someone’s private home or business – has officially launched in the UK.

The site has been dubbed the Airbnb of EV charging.

It already has more than 60 chargepoints across the country, covering type 1, type 2 and ‘untethered’ chargers, Cleantechnica.com

reports.

“Though Chargie was designed to focus on home chargepoints, there has been an unexpectedly positive response from B&B and hotel owners, who see that having bookable charging at their locations will appeal to EV travellers either as a lunch stop or as a destination,” Chargie says.

The company says it is now investigating expanding its operations into other countries after plenty of international interest.

“EV drivers from around the world have contacted Chargie to ask if the service could be expanded to cover their countries, including the United States, Canada, the Netherlands and South Africa,” Chargie says.
