Schneider Charge introduced for home EV charging

Schneider Electric EV charger

As electric car sales pick up, PDL by Schneider Electric brings smart EV charging to New Zealand homes.

Schneider Charge is eco-smart, energy efficient, easy to install, outdoor or indoor, aesthetic, and robust, says Schneider Electric

EV sales almost doubled year-on-year for January and February, the Motor Industry Association (MIA) says.

As New Zealand’s economy electrifies and EV sales pick up in 2025, charging electrical vehicles in Kiwi homes is getting smarter, says Schneider Electric.

It says Schneider Charge is a smart and sustainable EV charging station for single-family homes that has an optional anti-tripping module for dynamic load management.

“Smart homes, sustainable mobility, EV growth, and supporting charging infrastructure are trends that are part of the global shift to renewable and sustainable energy sources,” says Schneider Electric New Zealand country president Ollie Hill.

“With 37% of New Zealand home’s emissions coming from cars, it’s encouraging to see these home solutions becoming available.

“Schneider Charge is a smart end-to-end solution that gives homeowners full control over their EV charger, an efficient, optimised charging experience in the home, and the reassurance of the cyber security being managed by a global leader,” says Hill, adding Schneider Charge can be safely installed into a home through a registered New Zealand electrician.

Benefits include full control with the Wiser Home app or EV charging app of your preference, renewable energy sources and smart scheduling to avoid peak tariffs and optimise energy costs, remote control, real-time insights, and charger lock from anywhere, efficient energy utilisation – dynamic load management system to charge the car without overloading and disrupting the home’s power supply,  streamlined installation making it quick and easy for electricians to install, aesthetic and robust – suitable for outdoor and indoor use, and compliant with the highest industry standards for home EV chargers, says Schneider Electric.

Technical features include three possible installations – bottom, top and back wiring access; fast connector – quicker and durable power cabling, metal mounting backplate – and efficient and robust installation, captive screws – to avoid losing screws, wall spacer – for installations on uneven surfaces, two types of chargers – Type 2 socket with shutters (T2S) or attached cable (5m or 7m) with T2 connector and remote control via OCPP.
