Volkswagen Group’s Scout Motors has unveiled concept versions of its first two electric vehicles expected to hit the market in 2027.

Its first SUV, the Traveler, and its all-electric pickup truck, the Terra were unveiled to media and guests in Nashville, Tennessee on October 24.

CNBC reports that both the Traveler and Terra are expected to start between US$50,000 and US$60,000.

Scout is a former American vehicle brand which operated from 1961 to 1980 and was revived by Volkswagen Group in a surprise move confirmed in 2022.

The German parent company committed to an initial US$1billion investment in reviving the brand.

The brand revival was expected to exclusively offer EVs but the models will include extended range (EREV) versions (plug-in hybrids).

Electrek is reporting that the Traveler SUV will offer around 563km of all-electric range plus more with a range extender. It will offer a payload capacity of around one tonne and towing of around three tonnes.

The Terra model will offer the same range but is expected to tow up to four-and-a-half tonnes.
