Skoda looks to electric future

Skoda plans to bring out its first electric vehicle and first plug-in hybrid next year.

By 2025, Skoda aims to have 10 electrified models – six all-electric and the others as hybrids.

The Skoda Superb PHEV will be a plug-in hybrid of Skoda’s flagship, while the eCitigo will be the Czech carmaker’s first all-electric car, which it considers ideal for city driving.

The first mass-produced version of its Vision E study will be unveiled in 2020, the first purely electric car designed on Skoda’s EV modular kit MEB platform.

The Vision E concept is an an all-electric all-wheel drive SUV with 225kW power output, Level 3 autonomous driving technology, ample infotainment opportunities and internet-connected remote vehicle control.

It was showcased in 2017. The production model, like the concept, promises a 500km range.
