Skoda’s electric Octavia estate targets families
Skoda is preparing to electrify one of its most iconic nameplates — the Octavia estate — with an all-new battery-electric version due to debut globally around 2027.
The brand has teased a sleek, modern concept version of the car ahead of its official unveiling at the 2025 Munich motor show. The production model will be based on the Volkswagen Group’s next-generation SSP EV platform, offering longer range, faster charging, and enhanced digital and safety features.
For Kiwi buyers, the arrival of an electric Octavia estate will be a welcome development. The existing petrol and diesel versions of the Octavia wagon are already popular with families, company fleets, and road-trippers thanks to their spacious interiors, sharp pricing, and rock-solid practicality.
Plus it could be an easy way for the NZ police to go electric.
The electric version will bring those same qualities to a new generation of buyers, but with the added benefits of zero tailpipe emissions, lower running costs, and a much quieter ride. Expect a choice of battery sizes, a range of over 600 km, and digital cockpit upgrades that mirror what’s already been seen in the Skoda Enyaq.
It’s not yet confirmed whether Skoda New Zealand will offer both EV and combustion versions of the Octavia side by side, but with the local brand steadily ramping up its EV portfolio, there’s strong reason to expect it will land here — and slot in nicely between the Enyaq SUV and future electric Skoda sedans.
