Smart #2 revealed: electric Fortwo successor from €19,990
Smart has revealed the #2, an electric two-seater successor to the Fortwo with a 35.8kWh battery and up to 290km of WLTP range.
Smart has unveiled the #2, its electric successor to the Fortwo city car, at the Paris motor show. The two-seater goes on sale in Europe in 2027 from €19,990 in Germany, France and Italy.
The #2 is 2746mm long, 1760mm wide and 1555mm tall, on a 1875mm wheelbase, making it about 5cm longer than the last electric Fortwo. Its turning circle is 6.95m kerb to kerb.

A 35.8kWh LFP battery feeds a 60kW and 130Nm motor driving the rear wheels. Smart quotes a target of up to 290km on the WLTP cycle, still subject to homologation. That is down slightly on the figure of around 300km it gave at a technical briefing last month.
DC charging peaks at 65kW, with a 10 to 80 per cent charge taking about 20 minutes. AC charging is 7.4kW on the entry Pure model and 11kW on the others. Vehicle-to-load is available with a separate adapter.

The #2 sits on a new platform smart calls the Electric Compact Architecture, with five-link rear suspension that smart says improves handling over the old car.
Inside there is a 10.1-inch central touchscreen and an 8.8-inch driver display, with the two seats set close together and a fold-down armrest between them. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go is standard on every version.

In Germany, the range starts with the Pure at €19,990, followed by the Pure+ at €20,990, which adds 11kW AC charging and a heated driver’s seat. The €24,490 Premium adds a glass roof, heated seats and a seven-speaker Sennheiser audio system, and a limited Couture Edition is €25,690. A Brabus version has also been announced.
Smart has not said whether the #2 will be sold in New Zealand.
