Tesla Model 3 best seller in US

The Tesla Model 3 is the best-selling electric car in the US.

Tesla confirms 8180 Model 3s were delivered during the first quarter of 2018.

That’s more than twice as many as the next best-selling pure electric car in the US, GM’s Chevy Bolt EV deliveries, which reached 3375 units over the same period, Electrek

The Bolt EV is officially the next best-selling all-electric car in the US, but the Model S and Model X are likely second and third, which would mean Tesla most likely has the three best-selling electric car models in the US.

Tesla doesn’t break down its delivery results per quarter, but Electrek estimates that as Model 3s are only available in the US then it can be assumed that all deliveries were there. About 40 -50% of Model S and Model X deliveries are in the US too, based on the company’s annual revenues by geographic area report.

It would mean Tesla delivered 4700 to 5900 Model S cars and between 4000 to 5000 Model X vehicles in the US during the first quarter.

These are below Model 3 deliveries but exceed Chevy Bolt EV sales.

Adding plug-in hybrids, the Model 3 even beats the Toyota Prius Prime, currently the best-selling plug-in hybrid in the US with 6468 units during the first three months of the year.

If Tesla can maintain its production rate, it will crush its last results with no other EV expected to catch up, Electrek says.

It says US deliveries of the new Nissan Leaf US have been extremely limited with a little more than 2500 vehicles this year.
