TradeMe flicks switch on electric vehicles

TradeMe Motors has made changes making it easier and clearer for those buying and selling electric vehicles on the site.

Until now listing an EV on the site did not allow you to specify electric as a fuel type, and vehicles would appear with quirks such as 0cc in engine size.

Now vehicles can be listed as being electric, and the engine size issue disappears. The site is also updating existing listings it identifies as being an EV.

From now you can also search for electric and hybrid under TradeMe’s advanced search on the desktop site, a feature coming to the mobile version in the next week.

The change has also been built into the Dealerbase system.

Head of Motors Darren ‘Dazzz’ Wiltshire is keen to support the growth in the electric vehicle market.

“We are constantly looking at the automotive market and where it is going in the future, and we see both electric and hybrid playing a strong roll,” Wiltshire says.

“”We are keen to work with the EV community to make sure TradeMe Motors is the place people go to buy and sell electric vehicles.”

Wiltshire intends to own a Tesla himself in the future, and attended the Leading the Charge road trip event in Wellington where he took a ride in a Model S.

The Tesla Model 3 reveal was live streamed to a staff event at TradeMe’s Wellington headquarters.
