Tritium launches new fast charger

Brisbane-based global tech company Tritium has launched the RTM75 DC fast charger which the company says is the first of its kind in modular, scalable charging (MSC) platforms.

The RTM75 stands for retail modular with up to 75KW, Tritium founder and chief growth officer David Finn says, the new product ready to order and expected to start rolling out in about a fortnight.

Tritium also plans a PKM (park modular) with 150kW and 350kW capacity in 2021 and a DPM (depot modular) with 150-3000kW capacity in 2022.

It has also launched a new website – tritiumcharging.com – with additional information.

The new DC fast charger has a small footprint, is in a fully sealed unit and has liquid cooling, Tritium chief executive Jane Hunter explains.

“That means it keeps out pests, the elements and environmental contaminants such as dust.”

Finn says the new MSC chargers can plug in to three-phase power supply, take less than two hours to install, have a 60 metre long charging cable, the cabinet is more easily opened, the charger has a universal credit card reader, can charge two EVs at the same time, applies to any charging application (CCS/Chademo), and the chargers can easily be upgraded.

“We can put a new charging station on an existing site for half the price,” Finn adds.

He says the new MSC format is also designed for the “new mass market EVs rolling out in volume”.
