Ultra-fast EV charging on way
Ultra-fast EV charging is coming to New Zealand.
Chargemaster has partnered with two European EV charging manufacturers to bring their technology here.
These include an ultra-fast DC charger being tested in Europe, and a home charging system which can be adapted for future proofing.
The Ionity ultra-fast charger project is a four-way consortium between the VW Group, Daimler, BMW Group and Ford to install a network of 350kW chargers across Europe.
The charger is expected to power a VW e-Golf up to 80% in four minutes.
Meanwhile. EV owners looking to put a faster charger in their home (up to seven times quicker) can avoid the technology redundancy risk using the EVBox Elvi being brought out by Chargermaster. The customisable charger has upgradeable power and an interchangeable cable should technology change in the future. It comes with a Type 1 or Type 2 cable option, is WiFi connected and can be controlled. That means it can fit easily into New Zealand’s electricity grid without additional stress, Chargemaster says.
It’s offering a two-charger deal (one for the home, the other for the bach) to launch its new supplier relationship.
