Video: Electricarna a success
More than 40 EVs featured at New Plymouth’s Electricarna on Saturday, prompting a great turnout in spite of the wet.
Richard Edwards from EVs and Beyond attended, taking along the Mercedes-Benz EQV AMG 350, and filed this video.
The event’s success has delighted Justin Smith who, with wife Sharmayne, is in the Taranaki EV Owners Group which helped run Electricarna with the Better New Zealand Trust.
Smith hopes to see more EV infrastructure in the New Plymouth area by the end of this year, noting the city has about 170 Teslas among its many EVs, and he expects a bigger and better Electricarna next year.
He reckons the Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron GTS and Ford Mustang Mach-E were among his picks at Electricarna.
“We’ve had a fantastic turnout,” says Smith. “This is our largest event ever.”
Smith says Electricarna began five years ago with Stephen Hobo-Tuck and his Nissan Leaf gathering like-minded EV owners together.
“So it’s been a good little journey for us.”
