Volkswagen’s new Sedric AV for the sporty

Volkswagen chief information officer Martin Hofmann, left, and chief digital officer Johann Jungwirth at the Sedric Active unveil.
A new version of Volkswagen’s self-driving technology platform Sedric was shown at the CEBIT 2018 show in Hanover, Germany, June 11-15.
The new sports and outdoor model Sedric Active features a specially designed interior and exterior tailored for outdoor sports enthusiasts.
“Our vision is ‘mobility for all at the touch of a button’,” Volkswagen Group chief digital officer Johann Jungwirth says. “We want to offer individual mobility to everyone around the world.”
“Users can call Sedric either with the OneButton or with our MOIA mobility app.”
A roof rack system can carry a full set of windsurfing equipment or kayaks, for instance.
Sedric can follow outdoor enthusiasts to their new collection point, Automotive Purchasing
reports.
It also comes with an Android-enabled robot which apparently pay road tolls and run third-party apps.
Volkswagen is acquiring additional IT expertise and using new technologies for products, services and corporate processes, using key digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing and block chain technology.
CEBIT covers future mobility, artificial intelligence and more.
