Welcome to the April 2021 EVs and Beyond magazine
EVs are the hot topic this month.
We bring you a wrap of The EVent – the EVs and Beyond industry conference on “electric island” Waiheke attended by more than 70 people on each of the two days.
Most at The EVent will be back for the Conferenz eworld gathering at The Trusts Arena in Henderson from May 6-8 which EVs and Beyond will also attend.
That includes Kiwi rally driver Hayden Paddon who demonstrated his new electric rally car at the recent Rally of Otago, which he won in his conventional Hyundai car, and gave Dunedin’s mayor a spin in the EV.
He’s also tackling the Rally Whangarei on May 14-16 and hopes to have the Paddon Rallysport EV there as well.
In this issue we also check out the partnership between Audi New Zealand and ABB which is supplying the chargers for Audi’s electrics.
FleetPartners NZ sees the long-term benefits for using EVs and spells out changes to accommodate them.
A Northland family is keen on EVs after trying a Nissan Leaf from Turners Subscription, and Greater Wellington is expanding its EV stake.
We also cover New Zealand’s first hydrogen bus launch in Auckland, see how Countdown and The Warehouse are going with their EV fleets and profile the Fuso eCanter and its likely role in Auckland’s new zero emissions area.
Advances in EV charging are covered, as too are e-bikes – especially secure storage and charging in the wake of many e-bike thefts.
EV dealerships are generally enjoying good sales but ponder what the Government is (or isn’t) doing to help EV uptake. More may be known about tax help for EVs in the May Budget.
You can read how EV dealers feel about the overall situation in this edition.
We have our regular Intelligent Transport New Zealand pages, highlights of the past month and global advances in the EV related field.
All this and more for your reading pleasure.
