Wellington City Council may sell 26 EV chargers
The Wellington City Council is considering selling 26 EV chargers it bought five years ago and hasn’t used.
The council bought 60 EV chargers in 2020 to install around the city out of a $3.4 million budget, helped with almost $500,000 from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA), The Post reports.
“Now, with just 34 of them installed and about $2.5m spent, papers to a council committee meeting this week are calling for the ‘Charged Up Capital’ project to wind up and the remaining 26 chargers and mounting plinths, which have been in storage since 2020, to be sold,” The Post says, adding a review resulted in the recommendation to the council’s environment and infrastructure committee meeting on Thursday February 20 to end the programme.
EVs and Beyond covered the council’s review in late January.
