World’s fastest EV revealed

The world’s fastest electric vehicle – which can reach speeds above 300kmh – has been launched by a Chinese company.

NextEV, a relatively new start-up, released its brand NIO and car, the EP9 in London.

The EP9 can go from 0-200kmh in 7.1 seconds, with its top speed clocking in at 313kmh.

Its battery charges in 45 minutes and the car can travel 427km before running out of juice.

The car set a new lap record at Germany’s Nürburgring in a time of 7 minutes 5.12 seconds.

“The NIO EP9 was born to push limits and is the first stage of automotive production for NIO,” NextEV founder and chairman, William Li says.

“It is a best-in-class product that showcases what is possible with electric vehicles.”
