Xiaomi YU7 revealed

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has unveiled its second production model, the YU7, a sleek all-electric SUV designed to follow in the tyre tracks of the wildly popular SU7 sedan.
Revealed on Xiaomi’s 15th anniversary, the YU7 takes a sportier and more upscale approach to the electric SUV formula. With coupé-inspired lines, a bold stance, and Xiaomi’s now-signature looped taillights, the new five-seater blends aesthetics with outright performance—and, following recent headlines, a renewed focus on safety.
There’s no indication yet that Xiaomi vehicles will be offered in New Zealand, but given the brand’s momentum and growing global ambitions, it may be one to watch.
SU7 success sets the stage
The YU7 arrives hot on the heels of the SU7’s blockbuster debut year—258,000 units delivered and order backlogs stretching into 2026. Given the SUV segment’s dominance in China, the YU7 may well surpass its stablemate in sales.
Built on Xiaomi’s Modena platform, the YU7 measures 4,999mm in length, 1,996mm wide, and 1,608mm tall, riding on a full 3-metre wheelbase. Depending on spec, it weighs between 2.14 and 2.46 tonnes—heavier than a Tesla Model Y but offering more equipment and a bigger battery.
Performance with supercar stats

Three versions of the YU7 will be available:
- A single-motor RWD model with 235kW, 0–100km/h in 5.88s
- A Pro AWD dual-motor variant with 365kW and a 4.27s sprint
- A Max AWD flagship with 508kW, hitting 100km/h in just 3.23s
Top speeds are limited to 240–253km/h. The Max version features Xiaomi’s V6s Plus motors and a 101.7kWh NCM battery with 760km range (CLTC). Lower trims get a 96.3kWh LFP pack offering up to 835km.
All versions benefit from 800V architecture and 5.2C charging—enough to add 620km of range in just 15 minutes.
Luxury inside and out
Visually, the YU7 comes in bold new hues including emerald green, titanium grey, and orange. Wheel choices span 19 and 20 inches, housing Brembo brakes as standard.
The cabin is headlined by a 1.1m-wide HyperVision triple-display setup, paired with a 16.1-inch 3K infotainment screen and a 6.68-inch rear control panel. Premium materials and comfort features abound: ventilated, massaging, reclining “zero-gravity” front seats wrapped in Nappa leather, with matching rear seat flexibility.
Boot space ranges from 678 to 1,758 litres with the seats folded, plus a 141-litre frunk and 71 litres underfloor.
After a high-profile crash involving the SU7, Xiaomi has doubled down on safety in the YU7. Reinforced pillars, over 50 crash tests, and an upgraded ADAS suite headlined by NVIDIA’s new Drive AGX Thor chip (700 TOPS) set the tone.
Lidar will be standard across the range, and Xiaomi claims the battery is encased in bullet-resistant material—more a statement of intent than response to specific failures.
With supercar pace, class-leading range, a tech-laden interior and an emphasis on safety, the YU7 looks poised to build on Xiaomi’s electric momentum. While New Zealanders won’t be able to order one just yet, Xiaomi’s growing global presence suggests we may not be waiting forever.
