YHI Energy bringing Europe’s EO Charging here
A leading UK-based provider of EV charging solutions has announced a partnership with YHI Energy to deliver domestic and commercial charging products to the New Zealand market.

EO Charging supports EV fleets across Europe with its charging solutions and cloud-based software management system – like Amazon, DHL and Tesco – and has now signed its first distribution agreement in the Asia-Pacfic (APAC) region.
New Zealand’s EV market is growing fast, bolstered by a raft of government measures which have seen EV sales in New Zealand grow 344% year-on-year, making investments like this key to ensuring EVs are a domestic and commercial success across the APAC region.
The agreement with YHI will help EO meet fast growing demand for EVs, offering domestic and fleet charging products, initially focusing on EO’s home charging products, before offering fleet charging solutions in the second half of 2022.
EO says its expansion into New Zealand is bolstered by the new ‘Clean Car’ government incentives, which have fuelled significant growth in the number of EVs hitting New Zealand roads. In 2021, sales of electrified vehicles (including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and dedicated EVs) grew by 94% year-on-year in New Zealand compared to 2020, with sales of dedicated EVs alone increasing by 344% year-on-year.
YHI will distribute a wide range of products from EO’s portfolio, including the business’ fleet charging solution which will be available from the second half of 2022.
Products and services include home charging – EO Mini and EO Mini Pro 2 – said to be the world’s smallest smart home charger, designed for the space and energy conscious drivers – commercial charging with the EO Genius – fast AC charge points designed for return-to-depot fleets, workplaces and commercial environments.
EO Cloud is included, a hardware agnostic chargepoint management software that gives business owners full control of their charging infrastructure for fleets, workplaces, carparks and charging destinations.
“The electric vehicle market in New Zealand has historically lagged behind global trends but is now about to hit a tipping point,” says EO Charging APAC managing director Sam Steele.
“It’s critical that country-wide electrification is not stalled by a lack of charging infrastructure, both for everyday EV drivers and forward-thinking businesses.
“Our charging solutions are already used by some of Europe’s largest car, van, truck and bus fleets, allowing us to bring invaluable insight to this growing market,” he adds.
“YHI is renowned for its comprehensive product offering and local market knowledge, making them an ideal partner to help EO capture the increasing demand for our services here.”
YHI Energy divisional manager Aaron Gillon says: “We are very excited to represent the strong EO offering in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
“The EO product range is a great addition to our portfolio, allowing both residential and commercial customers access to some of the best featured charging stations on the market.
“The EO Hub and EO Cloud platform tie together our whole range of products and put YHI in a strong position to service all of the differing requirements in our market.”
Earlier this year, EO ranked on the FT1000 list of Europe’s fastest-growing companies for the second time in a row – one of only two companies in the top 50 to make the list back-to-back. EO was recognised as the 10th fastest growing company in the UK, and the 11th fastest growing of all technology companies included on the list.
Founded in 2014, EO distributes to more than 35 countries and aims to become a global leader in charging electric van, truck, bus and car fleets.
YHI Energy’s EV Charging range consists of five exclusive brands, ranging from 7kW to 800kW.
