Zeekr EVs at Everything Electric Australia 2025

Zeekr has confirmed New Zealand pricing and specifications for its new 7X electric SUV, with the entry-level model starting at $69,990.

The Chinese premium brand announced three variants for the local market at an Auckland event this afternoon. The 75kWh rear-wheel drive (RWD) model sits at $69,990, while the 100kWh RWD long range is priced at $79,990. The range-topping all-wheel drive (AWD) Performance variant costs $94,990 and delivers 0–100km/h acceleration in 3.8 seconds.

All New Zealand models mirror Australian specifications, with equipment highlights including frameless automatic doors on the AWD variant, Nappa leather seating, a 16-inch 3.5K central control screen, Qualcomm 8295 chip, and the Zeekr Sound Pro 21-speaker audio system on higher trims.

The RWD 75kWh variant delivers a WLTP range target of around 480km, while the 100kWh long range extends this to 615km. The AWD Performance variant is rated at 543km. Buyers who pre-order before November 30 will receive three years of complimentary servicing.

Practicality and technology focus

The 7X measures 4787mm long, 1930mm wide, and 1650mm tall on a 2900mm wheelbase, positioning it as a rival to mid-size SUVs including the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7. Practicality features include a 62-litre frunk, up to 1978 litres of luggage space, and 36 separate storage areas throughout the cabin.

Zeekr emphasises a “Hidden Energy” design philosophy inside, with a minimalist but technology-focused cabin. Features include a 36-inch head-up display, tri-zone climate control, wireless charging, and multiple ambient lighting modes. Safety equipment is comprehensive, with seven airbags standard and 12 cameras, radars and ultrasonic sensors supporting advanced driver assistance systems.

The 7X joins the smaller Zeekr X, which launched in New Zealand earlier this year priced from $59,990 for the RWD and $69,990 for the AWD. Both models are built on Geely’s SEA platform, which also underpins Volvo and Polestar electric vehicles. Zeekr has also confirmed the arrival of the luxury 009 MPV, priced at $149,990 in seven-seat form or $154,990 as a six-seater.

Market positioning

Tesla’s Model Y remains the benchmark in this segment, starting at $67,990 for the RWD and running through to $100,900 for the Performance variant. Once Tesla’s delivery and on-road costs are factored in, the pricing gap to the Zeekr 7X narrows significantly, with the Performance variant representing a $6000 saving for the Zeekr.

The BYD Sealion 7 is positioned as less premium and costs just $2000 less at the entry point, though $15,000 cheaper at Performance level. The platform cousin Polestar 4 is priced from $109,990 to $119,990.
