$2 Wellington Beam rides
Beam is offering $2 rides to Wellington residents until just before midnight on Sunday July 18.
It’s encouraging more Wellington people to take up greener transport options, saying the discount (capped at 15 minutes duration) is in support of the local council’s Greater Wellington Regional Public Transport Plan.
“A lot of us jump into cars out of habit, not realising that often there are more environmentally-friendly ways of getting around a city at a very affordable price,” Beam Australia and New Zealand general manager Tom Cooper says.
“We hope to break the driving habit and get the residents of Wellington moving in a new way, offering an affordable, socially-distanced transport option to assist the residents of Wellington with travelling the city.”
Beam says the average Wellington rider rides for eight minutes with peak times weekdays from 7am-9am and 3pm-6pm, showing a shift towards utilising e-scooters for work commutes.
The most popular trip starting locations are Wellington Train Station and Queens Wharf.
