Tesla will officially launch in New Zealand this month – although the site of its dealership and service centre remain a mystery.

Customers and members of the EV community have been invited to an official launch at Shed 10 on Auckland’s Queens Wharf on February 23. A number of early customers are taking delivery of their cars on the day.

There will be a drive experience for attendees and their guests. Media will be checking out the cars earlier in the day.

The dealership appears to be some time away – Tesla initially indicated that would not open till the second quarter.

“We have not announced a location for our store as yet, but have hired some staff for New Zealand and details about first deliveries will be soon,” Tesla spokesperson Heath Walker told EVtalk late last month.

Cars went on sale online in November.

The Tesla App, which enables control and unlocking of the car, became fully available to New Zealand users this week as well – a sign of progress in its entry into the market.
