EV tops 378kmh in new test

An all-electric Lucid Air prototype vehicle got up to 378kmh during a new testing round.

Previous tests were held at the Transportation Research Facility’s Ohio oval race track with a software speed limiter, which meant it never exceeded 349kmh, reports Tech Crunch.

Lucid made some improvements to its high-speed prototype after the first test. These included a software update to improve the car’s air suspension system performance under heavy load, and more cooling for the front motor which ran hotter than expected.

The car was “perfectly stable in corners and on the straight” throughout the entire run, Lucid says. It isn’t the final production top speed either.
