New Nissan Leaf has an “e-Pedal”

An e-Pedal will be part of the new Nissan Leaf due for release overseas on September 5.

What’s an e-Pedal?

Nissan says it’s a “revolutionary technology that transforms the way we drive”.

“With the flip of a switch, the technology turns your accelerator into an e-Pedal, allowing drivers to accelerate, decelerate and stop, using just the e-Pedal.”

The company says the technology is the world’s first one-pedal operation that allows drivers to bring the car to a complete stop even on hills, stay in position, and resume driving instantly.

Drivers can cover 90% of their driving needs with the e-Pedal, greatly reducing the need to shift from one pedal to the other, and making driving simpler, Nissan says.

However, it’s difficult to know when we will see the e-Pedal in New Zealand.

Nissan New Zealand managing director John Manley recently told EVTalk

he doesn’t know if the next generation Leaf will come into the country as a new vehicle.

“We’d love to see it here, but that’s an overseas release and we’ve yet to have a conversation with Japan.”

The popularity of used import Leafs continues unabated, with 161 brought in the country during May.
