A world of electric mobility at evworld NZ

Billed as the first national electric vehicles event showcasing the entire EV ecosystem, evworld NZ aims to draw thousands of visitors to the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau, Auckland, on September 8 and 9, 9am-5pm.

Friday is devoted to the industry, with a conference on “driving the future EV fleet” and a full programme of seminars. A public open day follows on Saturday, where visitors can view more than 50 exhibits and have EV questions answered.

EVTalk will be there both days with a stand, providing subscriptions and covering the main events, also giving away an electric scooter and electric bike in a lucky draw.

The JackHot L3 foldable e-scooter is kindly provided by Scoozzi, the New Zealand distributor of the US brand plus Inokim and E-Twow. Scoozzi is a division of Bikeme which owner Henry Tan first established as a bicycle shop in Orewa in 2010.

The foldable e-bike is from Halo City.

Other prizes at the event include the use of a Hyundai Ioniq for a month, and a Kinetic Sprint e-bike, both in a draw for people registering and attending the conference or expo.

The evworld NZ EV Champions Award night precedes the expo. The invitation-only evening on September 7 at the Vodafone Events Centre features awards for the Most EV Friendly Town of the Year, the EV Champion of the Year, the SME-EV Award of the Year, Fleet Champion of the Year and EV Sector Sales and Service Champion of the Year.

A free EV shuttle service to and from the awards function is provided by Mercury.

Judges are business journalist Rod Oram, Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA); transport general manager Elizabeth Yeaman and NZ Automobile Association motoring services general manager Stella Stocks.

The next day’s industry conference programme includes international keynote speaker Dr Peter Harrop of IDTechEx, speakers from various automotive industries, political parties and councils, ChargeNet NZ managing director Steve West, and more.

Topics cover the EVolution globally, how New Zealand is embracing the EV opportunity, case studies of Foodstuffs’ e-vans, Green Cabs and Waste Management’s e-trucks; EVs’ impact on the power networks, and panels on EV plans and challenges.

Visitors can also go for EV rides and try micro-EVs (scooters and e-bikes).
