Global EV promoter launched
EV100, a new major global transport initiative fast-tracking electric vehicle uptake among companies, includes LeasePlan Corporation NV as a founding partner.
LeasePlan will also transition its own employee fleet to electric cars.
EV100 has been launched by The Climate Group in New York as business and government leaders gather for Climate Week NYC.
Members commit to transition their petrol and diesel fleets to electric vehicle fleets by 2030.
LeasePlan is one of the ten founding partners of EV100, and the only automotive company to join.
“Electric vehicles are what’s next,” LeasePlan chief executive officer Tex Gunning says. “We’re therefore delighted to become a founding partner of the EV100 initiative and to work with some of the world’s largest companies on speeding up and facilitating the switch to electric mobility.
“Together, we can have a significant impact; over half the cars on the road today belong to companies.”
LeasePlan aims to have all employees driving electric cars by 2021, and it encourages other companies to do the same.
“Making the transition to an electric fleet is one of the easiest ways for businesses to lower their emissions and to help tackle climate change,” Gunning says. “LeasePlan is fully committed to facilitating other companies who would like to make that shift.”
The firm provides leasing and vehicle fleet management services for businesses and governments, operating in 32 countries and managing 1.6 million vehicles globally.
It has offices in six Australian cities and three New Zealand cities, managing more than 95,000 and 21,000 vehicles respectively.
