Council staffer e-bike convert

Helena Barkman used to spend an hour getting to work at the Auckland Council on the bus.
She switched to an e-bike in May and cut her commute to 18 minutes each way.
At first, she was unsure if an e-bike was the right choice. So she tried one from the council’s bike fleet provided for staff members to use on business trips around town.

After three days she was hooked, so she bought an e-bike and has become a dedicated e-commuter.
Getting to work is much less hassle for Helena now. It’s more fun and raises her heart rate enough to tick off her weekly aerobic exercise quota.
