New Renault Kangoo e-van goes public from November 16
The new Renault Kangoo Van E-Tech Electric with 300km range (WLTP) debuts at the Solutrans car show in Lyon from November 16-20.
The 90kW engine and 45kWh lithium-ion battery can be coupled with three different charger types to recuperate up to 170km range in 30 minutes, the e-van being produced at the Maubeuge factory in northern France for sale throughout Europe in mid-2022.
Renault New Zealand says it’s too early to tell when the new Kangoo Van E-Tech will be available in this part of the world with right-hand drive production yet to be confirmed, but it estimates the e-van may be expected around Q1 2023.
The current model 33kWh ZE Kangoo is still for sale in New Zealand with more stock arriving in February 2022.
The Kangoo Electric has gained some 70,000 professional customers since its launch at the end of 2011 and now accounts for one in every five electric utility vehicles sold in Europe.
Its 300km range means mini-van divers have peace of mind when going about a full day of work trips, the battery under the vehicle floor having no impact on the cargo area capacity, Renault says, adding the e-van has up to 3.9 cubic metres storage volume (4.9m3 in the yet-to-be-released long format), 600kg of payload (800kg in the long format), and 1500kg of towing capacity.
The Kangoo Van E-Tech Electric has 245Nm of torque, six drive modes and three regenerative braking regimes, all that and electric power management and more displayed on a customisable, optional, 10-inch, digital instrument panel.

The side opening is 1.45 metres, providing access to the ‘Easy Inside Rack’ retractable interior gallery.
It also has the ‘Renault Easy Link’ multimedia system with eight-inch display, a hands-free key card, automatic parking brake, three front seats with central folding backrest that turns into a mobile office, almost 60 litres of storage in the cab (including the ‘Renault Easy Life’ drawer), as well as the latest generation ADAS, including adaptive cruise control with ‘stop & go ‘ and the Motorway and Trafic Companion which marks the first step toward autonomous driving.
The e-van also has a heated windscreen, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel as optional extras.
Using the Renault smartphone app or Renault Easy Link multimedia system, the Kangoo Van E-Tech Electric comes with a selection of specific connected services that can be used to program and schedule battery charging, remotely monitor battery levels, pre-heat/cool the passenger compartment, search for charging stations close to the set itinerary, or calculate which destinations are accessible with the remaining battery charge.
