Hyundai New Zealand says it’s interested in introducing the Genesis brand here.

“However, electric options within the brand’s range will be a key part of our decision on timing,” the company says.

“It’s promising to see the recent global launch of Genesis Electrified GV70, and we’re looking forward to seeing what other electric product will be added.”

The electric GV70 features an all-wheel drive (AWD) system with individual motors for front and rear wheels with Korean specifications available but not for other countries yet.

It has a maximum power output of 160kW and 350Nm of torque for the front and rear, delivering a total maximum output of 360kW (in Boost Mode) and 700Nm of torque, able to go from zero to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds in Boost Mode.

The new model delivers 400km estimated range based on the Korean EV certification system, and adds 350kW rapid charging with the battery going from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes.

In addition, the Electrified GV70 is the first Genesis model to feature the SUV-specific e-Terrain Mode, which enables a stable driving experience in various environments.

Genesis will launch three all-electric cars on the Australian market in the first half of 2022 (GV60, Electrified GV70 and Electrified G80) with more to come.

Genesis revealed its GV60 EV in September.

The electric GV70 was officially unveiled at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition (Auto Guangzhou 2021) in China, the show running until November 28.

The EV includes a vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature that supports a 3.6kW charge, enabling customers to use electric appliances outside of the vehicle.

The launch event was broadcast worldwide via livestream on the Genesis Worldwide YouTube channel.
