Tesla prepares Giga Shanghai for Model 3 Highland
Tesla expects an “explosion” of orders for its Model 3 Project Highland version in China.
The EV manufacturer is likely to begin its deliveries by the end of September 2023, according to Chinese news website 36kr, insideEVs reports.
It adds the Shanghai factory will restart its battery production following upgrades to produce up to 100,000 battery packs monthly.
Some of the Highland EVs are expected to use the CATL M3P lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery reported to have been upgraded to 66kWh capacity.

The Tesla Highland Model 3 has been reported to have been seen testing in China, while EVs and Beyond has covered Highland production previews and sightings at the Southern Hemisphere Proving Grounds near Queenstown.
