In a prelude to the fully electric small SUV’s arrival in New Zealand, the Volvo EX30 has been crowned Car of the Year by two of the United Kingdom’s automotive media outlets, The Sun and Carwow.

The brand says New Zealand will be amongst the first drivers outside Europe to discover why this small electric Volvo SUV is creating waves throughout the world’s automotive media and the awards circuit.

Demonstrator vehicles are arriving in all New Zealand Volvo retailers over the next fortnight.

Enthusiasts and those new to the brand are encouraged to contact their local Volvo retailer to book a test drive or enquire about Volvo EX30 launch events.

Volvo Cars New Zealand expect to receive its first customer arrivals in early April and is only the second country in the Asia Pacific region to receive vehicles.

With the first two shipments already sold out, orders are now being taken for June-July arrivals and customers are encouraged to confirm orders early to avoid longer wait times.

Volvo is committed to being fully electric by 2030, and the all-new Volvo EX30 is another step towards this goal with sustainability attributes such as 25% of all aluminium, and 17% of all steel and plastics used in the EX30 being recycled. The wool sourced from farms in Marlborough, Canterbury and Central Otago is used within the Mist interior décor, making this Volvo is more ‘Kiwi’ than ever before.

The brand says the EX30 is built on a purpose-designed electric vehicle platform. In addition to battery electric power that produces zero tailpipe emissions, it has been developed with a focus on keeping its carbon footprint to a minimum, across the complete vehicle lifecycle.

It says consumers have a choice of three electric powertrains: a Single Motor Extended Range with a battery capacity of 69kWh; and a Twin Motor Performance model with 315kW (428hp) and a 69kWh battery making it the fastest Volvo yet. Its driving range is up to 476km and its battery can be recharged from 10 to 80% capacity in as little as 25 minutes.

Pricing:

2024 Volvo EX30 Plus Single Motor Extended Range: $74,990 RWD

2024 Volvo EX30 Ultra Single Motor Extended Range: $78,990 RWD

2024 Volvo EX30 Ultra Twin Motor Performance:       $84,990 AWD
