Simon Mackenzie leaving Vector end of June 2025

Vector chief executive Simon Mackenzie says the time is right for him to step down from the role, leaving at the end of June this year.

He will remain a Bluecurrent director, the organisation previously known as Vector Metering and which has expanded into Australia.

Mackenzie says he wants to leave while Vector is in a strong position – it recently reported group net profit after tax (NPAT) of $118 million.

He was appointed Vector group chief executive in 2008 and has reportedly achieved much for the company.

The National Business Review (NBR) says Mackenzie has been with Vector for about 25 years.

“The time is right for me to hand over with Vector in a strong position financially, a great culture, innovative mindset and talented leadership across the business,” Makenzie told the NZX.

Vector board chair Doug McKay says Mackenzie’s contribution and achievements are significant.

EVs and Beyond has reported that Meridian Energy chief executive Neal Barclay is also stepping down from his role at the end of June 2025.
