Another bigger fast charging network for Europe

Energy company E.ON has announced an “ultra-fast” electric vehicle charging network of 10,000 stations across Europe, just a week after Ionity said it was planning 400.

Like Ionity, E.ON is talking about “ultra-fast charging” with charge rates between 150kW and 350kW, electrek reports.

“The ultra-fast charging network, offering 150kW of charging power with a modular upgrade option to 350kW, will enable charging of a full 400 kilometres range battery in only 20-30 minutes,” E.ON says.

It aims for 10,000 charging points throughout Europe by 2020, adding to its network which includes about 2000 in Denmark, and 60 bus charging stations in Nottingham in the United Kingdom.

In the Czech Republic, a charging station combines Tesla’s Supercharger and E.ON’s chargers.

Some auto manufacturers are making EVS which can take the fast charging power E.ON plans, electrek says.

E.ON has also released a film, Freedom is Electric, which it says challenges outdated observations on EVs.

The film line-up includes a monster truck, hot rods, prototype hyper cars and super-bikes – all electric.
