AV progress demonstrated at CES 2020
RoboSense claims the world’s first public road test of a vehicle with a smart Lidar sensor demonstrating autonomous vehicle (AV) progress at the Las Vegas Convention Centre during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020.
The road tests have been running daily during the show from January 7-10, featuring the RS-Lidar-M1 Smart Lidar, with simultaneous exhibitions at RoboSense’s CES stand showcasing the real-time 3D point cloud data.
An autonomous driving Lidar perception solution provider, RoboSense says it’s the first MEMS smart Lidar sensor to incorporate sensor hardware, artificial intelligence (AI) perception algorithms, and IC chipsets – transforming conventional Lidar sensors from an information collector to a complete data analysis and comprehension system, providing AV decision-making information faster than ever.
The RS-Lidar-M1 has won the CES Innovation Award for two consecutive years – in 2019 and 2020.
“After optimisation based on large amounts of data, RoboSense’s algorithm performance and software stability and reliability have proven to have many key advantages,” RoboSense co-partner and research and development vice president Dr Leilei Shinohara says.
“Developed by RoboSense after more than a decade of exhaustive research in perception technology, it has combined the advantages of deep-learning-based AI algorithm with the traditional algorithms to keep functional safety. Since 2017, RoboSense’s algorithms have gained more than 100 global partners for various types of autonomous driving scenario certifications.”
During CES 2020, RoboSense128-beams Lidar RS-Ruby and the short-range Blind Spot Lidar RS-BPearl have also been on public road demonstrations.
RoboSense has partnerships with numerous industry leaders, including ON Semiconductor, Xilinx, Horizon, AutoX, and Freetech.
