BMW iX3 priced at $125,900 for NZ launch

BMW will launch the all-new iX3 electric SUV in New Zealand at midyear with a price of $125,900, marking the arrival of the German brand’s Neue Klasse model generation locally.

The iX3 50 xDrive represents BMW’s first fully electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) from its next-generation platform and will spearhead the brand’s electrification push in the New Zealand market.

BMW says the model offers a driving range of up to 805 kilometres on the WLTP cycle, supported by 400kW DC fast charging capability that can add more than 350km of range in 10 minutes.

The dual-motor configuration produces 345kW of power and 645Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 210km/h.

Sixth-generation eDrive technology

The iX3 integrates BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, featuring a high-voltage battery with cylindrical cells and 800-volt architecture. The usable energy content is 108kWh, with the system supporting charging from 10 to 80 per cent in 21 minutes on a 400kW DC charger.

Standard equipment includes 22kW three-phase AC charging for home use, with a full charge taking 5 hours 30 minutes.

BMW says the model features four “superbrain” high-performance computers covering driving dynamics, automated driving, infotainment, and basic and comfort-enhancing functions.

The cabin incorporates BMW Panoramic Vision, which projects vehicle information across a 110cm span from A-pillar to A-pillar on a nano-coated surface.

Comprehensive standard specification

BMW New Zealand has positioned the iX3 with extensive standard equipment and a simplified options programme. Standard features include 20-inch wheels, BMW Digital Premium with three-year duration, Harman Kardon sound system, panoramic glass sunroof, and heated seats for driver and front passenger.

The M Sport Package is included as standard, along with BMW Dynamic Performance Control and Parking Assistant Plus.

Paint options range from standard Alpine White to BMW Individual Frozen Space Silver at $6000, while wheel upgrades extend to 22-inch BMW Individual aerodynamic wheels at $5300.

The M Sport Package Pro is available for $3500, adding red brake calipers, M seat belts, M steering wheel, and M Sport seats.

Market positioning

The iX3 joins BMW New Zealand’s expanding electrified portfolio, which includes both fully electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) models alongside efficient combustion variants.

BMW says the launch complements its technology openness strategy, designed to cater for varying customer needs and requirements across the New Zealand market.

The company has indicated that additional fully electric iX3 variants will follow the initial 50 xDrive model in future.

The iX3 50 xDrive will be available through BMW New Zealand’s dealer network from midyear 2026, with recommended retail pricing including GST but excluding on-road costs.
