BMW unveils new electric scooter concept

BMW has unveiled yet another electric vehicle concept as part of its Vision Next 100 series, but this time for BMW Motorrad.

The scooter-like concept is called ‘The BMW Motorrad Concept Link’ and it is supposed to represent BMW’s vision for the future of electric transport on two wheels, reports Electrek.

Alexander Buckan, head of vehicle design at BMW Motorrad, explains: “The BMW Motorrad Concept Link is not based on today’s concepts, but rather meets the basic functionality needs, the technical architecture and the digital reality of today’s users. The technical realities of electric drive – such as the flat energy packs in the underfloor and the compact drive on the rear wheel – allowed us to create a highly distinctive design which shapes a new segment.”

The German automaker already sells an electric scooter, the C Evolution, and it sounds like this new concept could give us an idea of the look of the next generation. BMW has built the concept around the battery pack and even exposed the pack’s electric cables as part of the design.

BMW describes the vehicle as being aimed at modern urban mobility, saying: “It has fast acceleration and easy handling and due to its low overall height, getting on is easy from the side or even from the back. A reverse gear ensures that it is easy to manoeuvre, making it ideal to park in tight city spaces.”
