BYD Atto 3 deliveries resume in Australia

BYD Atto 3 EV deliveries have resumed in Australia after being delayed about four weeks due to a technical compliance issue.

An Australian Design Rule (ADR) requiring a top-tether child-seat attachment point for the middle-rear seat has been fixed, say BYD Australia and importer EVDirect in a customer notice.

The rear centre seat will now be able to be used for a child seat with a rear anchorage point available, while the ISOFIX child seat anchorages in the front passenger seat will be disengaged meaning no child seat can be used in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, the notice explains.

Customer care and delivery teams are now working hard on BYD Atto 3 deliveries and the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) will be contacted for information about the potential for an Australian safety rating to be applied, CarExpert reports.

The BYD Atto 3 did not get a five-star ANCAP crash rating for Australia, in spite of qualifying for a five-star safety rating in New Zealand and Europe.
