BYD deliveries for NZ on track – local agent

Reports of delays to BYD deliveries in Australia do not appear to extend to New Zealand according to the local agent.

Across the Tasman, distributor EVDirect.com.au emailed customers last week to say test drives and deliveries would be delayed by six-to-eight weeks with the first local vehicles for test drives due later this month.

Customers were expecting to begin receiving cars in July.

For New Zealand, however, the news appears to be better, with local agent Ateco expecting arrival of their dealer test vehicles very soon – though they would not confirm when.

Customer deliveries are expected to begin – as pledged in their livestream with EVs and Beyond – late next month.

“BYD New Zealand deliveries are on track,” BYD NZ brand manager Warren Willmot told EVs and Beyond in a statement. “Customers can expect to test drive at BYD showrooms in late July and initial deliveries by the end of August.”

Dealers have taken hundreds of deposits for the brand’s first local vehicle, the Atto 3, which retails from $52,990.
