A BYD electrified ute, expected in Australia and New Zealand later this year, has been seen on the road in China near Hefei where BYD has a factory.

Photos of the BYD ute have been posted on X (formerly Twitter) by ThinkerCar.

The BYD ute was seen on Australian roads in January this year and December 2023.

More details on the BYD ute are expected closer to its production, The Driven reports, adding the Atlantis Grey ute seen in China is left-hand drive with side steps, roof rails and a LED tailgate bar.

It’s uncertain from the photos whether the BYD ute is a battery electric vehicle (BEV) or a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), it says.

BYD’s ute is set for New Zealand release in June and may even be carried on one of BYD’s new ships.
