Car to glow in the dark

A new hybrid hypercar which may use supercapacitors instead of batteries and glows in the dark is expected from Lamborghini.

The initial suggestion such a car could preview Lamborghini’s electrified future came from Autocar which reports the new car, codenamed LB48H, will get a V12 coupled to a new hybrid setup for the 2020 model year.

The car had reportedly been shown to selected buyers with only a limited run available.

Following up on Autocar’s

report, a Road & Track source claims the LB48H will cost around US$3 million and glow in the dark, Gizmodo reports.

Road & Track also speculates the new hypercar is ideal for implementing the supercapacitor technology Lamborghini has been developing.

Supercapacitors can charge and discharge much quicker than batteries, and don’t wear out as rapidly, although they have limited energy density compared to a lithium-ion battery – something Lamborghini has been working on with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
