Chery unveils Tiggo 9 PHEV at Auto China 2024

Chery is adding the Tiggo 9 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) to its SUV line-up.

Revealed at Auto China 2024 (aka the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, April 25-May 4) this flagship SUV showcases technology that will launch Chery into a sustainable future, the brand says.

An octagonal grille, dynamic body lines, and 20-inch multi-spoke wheels feature, while the interior creates a warm and tech-savvy space with a 15.6-inch 2.5K HD screen and integrated multifunctional console enhancing operational ease, says Chery.

It has a two-litre turbocharged engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, delivering 175kW/385Nm, while the hybrid’s 3DHT electric motor has a 165kW maximum power output.

This setup achieves fuel consumption of 5.2 litres per 100 kilometres under WLTC (the driving cycle part of the WLTP), the electric motor extending range beyond 1400km, says Chery.

The Tiggo SUV range was first introduced in 2005 and has expanded to five models over the years with the Tiggo 8 Pro Max joining the local line-up alongside the Tiggo 7 Pro and Omoda 5.
